DEPUTY PRINCIPAL YEARS 3-6
Mother’s Day Stall Magic
This week, our Prep to Year 6 students had the joy of visiting the Mother’s Day Stall, beautifully orchestrated by our P&C, parent volunteers, and our Community Liaison Officer, Linda. Students browsed the array of thoughtful gifts and carefully selected something special for their loved one. When I visited, it was truly heart-warming to hear their reasons for choosing each gift.
Thanks to the generosity of our P&C and school community members, students were also able to have their gifts wrapped in colourful paper, ribbons, and bows, adding an extra touch of magic. While we all know there’s no greater gift than time and connection, I suspect there’ll be many proud smiles on Sunday morning as our students present their hand-picked treasures.
Wishing all of our Bulimba mums, grandmas, nannas, and special mum-like figures a very happy Mother’s Day!

Acknowledgement of Country
Have you seen these posters around our school? If you have a keen eye, you may have seen them outside your child’s classroom, specialist room or at the office.
Acknowledgement of Country posters do more than recognise the Jagera and Turrbal peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land we learn, work and play on – they spark conversation and serve as an educational tool. By including an Acknowledgement of Country in our daily school routines, we offer a meaningful way for both staff and students to learn about the histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Including these acknowledgements in classrooms, staff meetings, and on parade fosters dialogue, empathy, and an inclusive mindset within our school community.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) team also meet regularly to create strategies that advance Reconciliation and inspire positive, intergenerational change in our school setting.
Murri Tucker Workshop
To further develop students’ appreciation of First Nations people’s practices and perspectives, Batjala man, Bruce Gululai Phillip’s from Murri Tukka will visit our Year 3-6 students for a workshop over the next two weeks.
Year 3&4 – Monday 12th May
Year 5&6 – Monday 16th May
Students will learn how traditional plant foods are gathered and prepared by First Nations people. And with such a thriving school kitchen and garden program already at our school, I just know students will be excited to taste, smell and touch these traditional foods.
